Transportation in Vestfold

Navigating a new place is one of the first practical challenges you will face. This guide helps you understand Vestfold’s public transport system and the rules for driving.

Public Transport

How it works: Buses operated by Vestfold Kollektivtrafikk (VKT) and trains operated by Vy connect towns across the region.

Buying Tickets: Use the “VKT Mobilbillett” app for buses or the “Vy” app for trains. You can also buy a ticket directly from the bus driver with a credit card or cash.

Useful websites/apps: “VKT Mobilbillett” and “Vy”.

Driving in Vestfold

EU/EEA Driving Licenses: You can use your license as long as it’s valid. You can exchange it for a Norwegian license without a test.

Non-EU/EEA Driving Licenses: You can use your foreign license for up to three months after you are registered as a resident. After this, you must obtain a Norwegian driver’s license.
